Is the SLPA program for you?

As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, you could be working in different settings with varying client needs. There are core functions that are expected in clinical placements and in workplaces that support the delivery of safe, effective speech and language interventions to clients. Prospective candidates should review these core functions to make informed decisions about whether this field is for them. The core functions include abilities and behaviors in the areas of: Communication, Motor, Sensory, Intellectual/Cognitive, Interpersonal, and Cultural Responsiveness (adapted from: Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (2023).
